In the morning we loaded the bikes for the last time and rode for the port. After buying the tickets we embarked on the ship and the ship started the journey to Ancona. The view of Zadar in the background was amazing. After about seven hours we were back to where our journey actually started, in Ancona. Since the ship to Patra would depart after 6-7 hours we decided to visit a village nearby. We left Ancona and followed the signs to Sirolo, without having any special information for this village and after about 30 km we arrived. The road quality and signing are superior compared to the Greek provincial network. In addition the landscape with the fields was beautiful and the day very clear.
The population of the village is approximately 3,300 people and is quite picturesque with a magnificent view to the sea. It is built at a high altitude during the medieval years and it used to be a castle which belonged to the family Conte Cortesi. Especially during the summer period it is a very popular tourist attraction with its beach being one of the eleven of the Le Marche region being granted with a blue flag. We had a cappuccino at the central square of the village we strolled among the narrow streets and then returned to Ancona.
Since we had some more time available we left the bikes at the centre of Ancona and had last walk around the city. We also made some photos and headed to the port. We found a nice place on the deck and started discussing about our trip which was coming to its end. In the night the team entertained at the ship’s disco. We arrived at Patra in the noon and rode directly back to Athens with the memories of the trip to our minds.
