Second day at Pilio and we decided to follow the south route. We waked up early in the morning in order to have our drink at the plaza of the village Makrinitsa below the sycamores and enjoying the view of Pagasitikos bay.
We decided to go until the Milies village by taking the coastal road until Ano Lexonia where we took the route to Agios Georgios and Milies village. When you pass the Ano Lexonia village you will discover that the road is so narrow that 2 cars cannot pass at the same time. You should be very careful since some car drivers ‘believe’ that they ‘own the road’. However the route is beautiful and we believe that motorcyclist will be satisfied.
Agios Georgios village is one more scenic village, without having anything to offer except the beautiful church at the main plaza. After Agios Georgios village you will meet Pinakates village. Pinakates does not have anything to offer but you can also see there the traditional architecture of the houses which characterizes all the villages of Epirus. Next stop was the village Vizitsa. Vizitsa is a big village from where you can enjoy a marvellous view of Pagasitikos bay.
Milies village was the last stop before we return to Volos. Milies village is known from the small railway station that exists there. This station was the starting point of a train which was working with charcoals. Today the station is open only for touristy routes for anyone who wants to enjoy the view. At the village’s main plaza, there are taverns where you can enjoy a tasteful menu.
After we rest there for some time, we returned to Volos by making a stop at Kala Nera village. Although it was winter, we realized that the beach and the village would be beautiful summer resort which Motoriders Club will probably visit it in the future.
At the evening, we reached Volos for a coffee before taking the route back to Athens. Volos is a nice town full of life something that you see when you find your self at the town’s port. Next to the port are the University and many cafeterias full of young people. We recommend visiting it Volos unconditionally.
We believe that the villages of Pilio should be one of your future destinations.
