We find ourselves in the middle of a heavy winter that really has tied us up… Nevertheless, certain meteorological forecasts give us hope for a sunshine weekend with the temperature however, in regular level… 10 degrees minus! Without second thought and after Ploumisti’s proposal, we decide to visit the village of Doliana.
Doliana is located in mountainous region of Arkadia (Peloponnesus) and more specifically in the province of Kynouria. It is a traditional village, hardly 20 kilometres from Tripoli, on the way to Sparti. The altitude is 1050 metres, however, you do not conceive, as the plateau of Tripoli is already high enough.
We started Saturday morning and at the midday, we arrived at sympathetic village that was dressed in white, due to previous days’ bad weather. The landscape was amazing… There, we visited one of our club’s friend, Giorgos, who is the owner of the traditional cafe "Oneirologjo". Of course, we recommend you to visit it. The service and his hospitality are unique. Additional reason that may convince you to visit the "Oneirologjo" is "kastanokarydopita" (a kind of cake with melted chocolate)… the speciality of the house! You can also find many pensions, in case you wish to stay overnight, as well as taverns with delicious titbits (meze).
We promise that you will not regret your visit to Doliana, any time of the season...
