Our first 2005 mini excursion! Exploiting our visit at Amaliada, we thought that we could take the opportunity to visit the dam and the artificial lake of Penaeus, as well as the archaeological discoveries in the region of Ancient Ilida.
The route is very good. The dam is located hardly 20km from the city of Amaliada, while the archaeological area is also located close to the dam. If you already are in Amaliada, in order to reach this area, you only have to follow the signs that lead to the archaeological area, while continuing the same road you reach the dam. In case you are driving on the national road from Patra to Pyrgos, you have to turn on the way to Roupaki village. You will not be lost, at nay case!
The landscape of lake is amazing. In addition, the panoramic view you can enjoy from the only cafeteria of this area. It worth your time… Regarding Ancient Ilida, we can say that there are a lot of archaeological discoveries, as well as a museum. Do not miss to visit the ancient theatre, where you have the chance to watch performances even nowadays. Please note that the archaeological areas are closed on Sundays.
