It is the second day of our tour and we decided to see the western side of Peloponnese. More specifically, we thought of reaching Amaliada following the way via Gialova and Kyparissia. From the point where we stayed overnight, even if the way that we followed was shortest, it was not the most advisable as the road is provincial and narrow, with enough turnings. Very beautiful sightseeing is the shipwreck that is found in the region of Gialova. It is located 5 km from the node that leads left to Pylos and right to Kyparissia. In the area you can enjoy your swim at the beach "Voidokoilia'" that is part protected hydro biotope. For roughly 70km. The road is full of turnings until you reach Kalo Nero, beyond of which the way is easy, but needs particular attention due to the numerous nodes. Up to Kalo Nero, you will pass from the big villages Hora, Gargalianoi, Filiatra and Kyparissia which have many similarities.
Our first stop was the famous beach of Kaiafas (thermal) Baths. The landscape is really appreciable as the beach is full of pines that reach very close to the sea. For the friends of free camping, the area is advisable and suggested also.
Next stop was the town of Amaliada. There we met another member of our club, Christos. In the region there are enough appreciable parts you can visit as the beach of Kourouta with many bars by the sea. We stopped at the well-known pedestrian of Amaliada in order to drink a coffee and relax at one of the many cafeterias that are found there. We chose the best in our opinion named Soulatso, which we also suggest to you!!!
Christos offered to us his house and we decided to stay the night in Amaliada. After we unloaded our baggage, Christos undertook the role of the guide and thus we visited Agios Andreas and Katakolo. Just before we reach Katakolo, we turned right and we visited the region of Agios Andreas. From there we enjoyed a very beautiful bight, with amazing beach with view a small rocky island. Katakolo is a beautiful coastal city that allocates also harbour. A lot of its characteristics give you the impression of an island. Do not miss the visit!
