Motoriders club organized a one-day excursion to north Evia and in particularly we did the round of the north part of the island including the Agios Ioannis Rosos (St. Yannis from Russia), Lake, Edipsos Baths, Pefki, Agriovotano and Vasilika.
We started our trip from Athens early in the morning since we had many km ahead of us with many turnings. We were 4 motorcyclists and we had a date at the Chalkida bridge with Plumisti and her co driver Shirin. At 10:30 all, together we started our journey to our first destination the church of Agios Ioannis Rosos which is in the village Prokopi. The destination was not the church since-in which I saw the first sanctification (Holly water) of a motorcycle-but a traditional cafe which makes a famous "galaktompureko" (Greek coke) as we were told by Plumisti. So there we had our first coffee of the day and we had the chance to know better Shirin unfortunately not many of us since Shirin was talking only in English language, and she was a good opportunity to practice our English.
After the cafe, we departed for the Lake. After Prokopi village, we stopped at on of the wooden bridges of the river which exists next to the road to take pictures and enjoy the magnificent scene. The route from Chalkida to the Lake is relatively good but with turnings and in many places the road was narrow. As soon as we reached the Lake, we got down at its small port. There you can found many cafeterias and taverns. We recommend you to visit the area.
After the Lake, we left for Edipsos Baths which are 140km far away from Chalkida. The route form the lake is better and gives you the chance to drive with high speed.
As soon as we arrived at the area, the time was 14:00 and we felt hungry so we decided to sit to eat something. At the coastline of the town, you will found many cafeterias and taverns.
Next, we took the route for Istea which is not very interesting. The route was getting better and better which a lot of flora and a combination of sea and mountains. We passed outside Peuki and we reached Agiovotano village where we could not see any more the sea however, we were driving through verdurous places. The route had many turnings and worth one’s salt.
Our last stop before we took the road back to Athens was Psaropuli village which is near to Vasilika. At its small and scenical small port, we drank our evening coffee. Ploumisti had the chance to make a surprise to two friends of hers Kosta and Mara and we had the chance to meet them. After a small chat, we took the route back to Chalkida passing from Agia Anna where there is a beautiful beach which we had visited approximately two years before and we recommend to visit it if it happens to be in the area.
At last, we would like to say that North Evia is a magnificent place to visit. You will remember forever the route and the beautiful scenes of that area. It is not an accident that we have met many motorcyclists in the area. In the end, we would like to thank Shirin for her participation to this trip.
