Our first trip was in mountainous Fokida with destination the village of Athanassios Diakos which is also the place where Sakis comes from!!! It was a hot morning of August and we had το make the first kilometres for the new Honda CBR. The average speed was about 140km per hour.
The first stop to rest a little and take a coffee was at Leventis. We departure after half an hour and continued for our destination. About 190 km after Athens you will see signs for Amfissa – Lidoriki and you turn left. From that intersection up to the village of Athanassios Diakos is roughly one hour road and about 60km distance. This particularly road is the absolute way for the motorbike riders with all kind of turnings, open, closed, with bents that lead your motorbike to the limits and amazing landscape as you will also see in the photographs. We also have to notice the very good quality of the asphalt in almost whole way. Beautiful villages pop up scrambled up the steep mountains.
As you reach the village you will face the incredible view of the Vardousia Mountains, as the village lies at the roots of the them. In the village you will see a beautiful square with two big planes and the famous water springs of Vardousia Mountains. You will also find small taverns for the hungered and a small pension with few rooms. Do not forget to eat ice-cream from goat’s milk and to walk the way up to the river. It is a really good proposition for a weekend of adventure in the wild nature. On our way back, because of the excessive heat, we made a stop for a plunge outside from Stylida, in the region Rahes. A place full of people and shops, really crowdie. Of course our bikes (!) were “begging” for more kilometres and speed but, you cannot all the time satisfy one’s needs…!!!
